St Patrick's Day
St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, the religious feast day and the anniversary of the death of St. Patrick in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for thousands of years.
More than 50,000 Australians have Irish heritage and they celebrate the popular St Patrick's Day. Today the festival is not just for the Irish as it is celebrated across Australia by people from different ages, backgrounds, cultures and religions. People like to get together for 'a wee bit of fun'. Green is the color of the day and everything from hair to food can be colored green.
The colours of the Irish flag are green, orange and white and one traditional icon of the day is the shamrock - a plant with three leaves believed to have been used by Saint Patrick to symbolise the Trinity (i.e. father, son and the holy ghost). Leprechauns are also often part of the fun.
To help you celebrate St Patricks Day we have a range of tableware, hats, decorations and balloons and more!
